THE RELEVANCE OF HIS DEATH; PART 2
(John 19:34) But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out.
As Christians, we are still celebrating the birth, burial, and resurrection of our Lord and Master Jesus. Yesterday, we saw why Jesus wore a crown of thorns. We learned that He did that to remove the curse God placed on the earth because of the sin of man (Genesis 3:18–19; Matthew 27:29-31). Today we are going to see why they pierced his side as reported in our theme scripture. When one of the soldiers pierced His side, blood and water came out immediately.
Since Jesus is the last Adam, it is important we check if anything ever came from the side of the first Adam (1 Corinthians 15:45-49).One day, God made a deep sleep, which can be compared to death, fell on the first Adam. When that happened, God took a rib from his side and made it into a woman (Genesis 2:21–22).
In the New Creation, blood and water came from the side of the second Adam, the Lord Jesus. It is this blood and water that has redeemed us, saved us, and washed us from all sins (Ephesians 1:7; Romans 5:9-11). This made it possible for us to be called the bride of Jesus just as how the first Adam called the woman who came from his side as Eve (Genesis 3:20; 2 Corinthians 11:2; Ephesians 5:27; Revelation 19:7). You are special. Today, bless the name of the Lord profusely in worship and prayer. Thank Him for His death for it was for your benefit. Halleluyah!
Confession: The death of Jesus was for my benefit. I declare that every blessing that came from His death, burial, and resurrection is working in my life from today forward. Glory to God! Halleluyah!
Say this if you have never been born again. I declare from today that Jesus Christ is my Lord and I believe that God raised Him from the dead.
Congratulations
You can begin to attract God’s goodness into your life from today.
