GLORIOUS WORD DEVOTIONAL

THE RELEVANCE OF HIS DEATH PART 5

NO CURSE IN YOUR MARRIAGE

(John 19:28) After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, "I thirst!

For the past four days, we have seen why Jesus wore a crown of thorns, why His side was pierced, how He became the one who carried our sins, and why He wore a scarlet robe. Today, we shall continue to look at why He asked for a drink on the cross. Before that, remember Jesus had told some of the people He preached to on a certain occasion that “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink” (John 7:37-38).

Also, He had once asked for a drink from an adulterous woman. This woman being a Samaritan, was unwilling to help Jesus, for He was a Jew. Jesus then offered the woman an opportunity to receive a special drink from Him. In the words of Jesus, He said, “whoever drinks that water will never thirst again” (John 4:9-15). So how come the One who can give you the water that will satisfy you forever ask for a drink on the cross?

First, it was needed to fulfill scripture (John 19:28). Second, it tackled all forms of curses connected with marriage in particular. In the Old Testament, whenever a man became jealous of his wife, the two would go to the priest of that town and as part of the rituals to be performed, the woman would be made to drink water called the bitter water. If she has committed any sin in the marriage, serious curses will start working in her life (Numbers 5:24-26). To take away all those curses, Jesus drank that sour, bitter, and unwholesome drink just for you so that you have a blessed marriage. Today, stay in prayer and declare that your marriage is a curse-free one. Halleluyah!

Confession: The death of Jesus Christ of Nazareth has set me free from all forms of curses. I declare that my marriage shall not see any form of curses for He drank the sour vinegar which took away all forms of curses and bitterness connected with my marriage. Halleluyah!

Say this if you have never been born again. I declare from today that Jesus Christ is my Lord and I believe that God raised Him from the dead.

Congratulations

You can begin to attract God’s goodness into your life from today.
