GLORIOUS WORD DEVOTIONAL

07/07/2022

HE TOOK THEM BY SURPRISE

(1 Kings 20:19-20) The young men of King Ahab were the first to come out, but the rest of the army of Israel was following them. Each of the men of Israel killed the man who had come against him. So the men from Aram began to run away and the army of Israel chased them. King Ben-Hadad escaped on a horse with the chariots.

There is an interesting story of God’s might in 1 Kings 20. At the time, Samaria had become weak and Ahab was their king. There was another king called Ben-Hadad of Aram who was interested in destroying Samaria. This king gathered his army and thirty-two other kings with him plus many horses and chariots. They surrounded Samaria and attacked it. Ben-Hadad then sent this message to Ahab. The message was, “Ben-Hadad says, ‘Your silver and your gold are mine, and so are the best of your wives and children.” King Ahab obliged. Then after this, Ben-Hadad sent his messengers with a second message which was “Ben-Hadad says, ‘I told you before that all of your silver and gold and your wives and children belong to me. So give them to me! Tomorrow I will send my men to search through your house and that of your officials. Give my men all of your valuables, and they will bring them back to me.’ King Ahab saw that things were getting out of hand so he called for a meeting with his elders. The elders advised him not to obey Ben-Hadad. This made King Ben-Hadad and his men furious. At that moment God sent a Prophet to King Ahab. The Prophet said, “King Ahab, the Lord says to you, ‘Do you see that great army? I will defeat that army for you today. Then you will know that I am the Lord.”

The Prophet told Ahab how he should go about the war so that he may win. The strategy was those who were to lead the battle were not soldiers but the young men who carry the weapons of the government officials (1 Kings 20:1-22). God took the enemy by surprise. Ahab and his men won that war. I declare to you today, that God shall take your enemies by surprise. You will win all your battles this year. Declare in prayer that your God is taking your enemies by surprise. Halleluyah!

Confession: The Holy Ghost, the extraordinary strategist, is my leader and director. This year, He takes my enemies by surprise. It shall be an extremely great defeat for my enemies. My God is the Lord of the Armies of Israel, so I fear no battle. I am a winner every day. Halleluyah!

Say this if you have never been born again. I declare from today that Jesus Christ is my Lord and I believe that God raised Him from the dead.

Congratulations

You can begin to attract God’s goodness into your life from today.
